Just here I will say that you have no dout ear this time read about signals fight. This fight took plaice up the vallie from here, I dont know just how far but it was at Newmarket Va, that is about 50 miles up the vallie well after that fight took place all the wounded
of that Battel wore brought back here and they have for their benefit erected a lot of canvas tents. Well the first thing that attracted our attention when we left our tent was the saboth scool scolars at this camp singing Well we did not get their in time to hear them sing but some of our boys that was their said that it was very nice well after we got their the ladies came round that is the young women from town with large sarvers with all kinds of cake on them and inquired for the hospitals that had the sick & wounded in and they went in and I tell you know you never seen anything that was done up with more taste and you cant gow over
in the city but you will see a lot of ladies with baskets on their arms making their way to the city hospitals to and before we left this camp that I first spoke of we went round and looked in and lots of places whare they wore wounded badly in arms you would see a lot of ladies getting in their fanning them and ceeping the flies off of them I tell you know that this makes the soldiers feel good when they see the folks have sutch feeling on this subject. well My Dear I will soon have to quit riting and I will say that I cant tell you scarcily any thing I have seen lots of things cince I left and if I live to get home I can tell you more than I ever
