THE BULLETIN, November, 1927. 667 THE BULLETIN OF THE RUBBER GROWERS' ASSOCIATION (INCORPORATED) Vol. 9. NOVEMBER, 1927. No. 11. COUNCIL. A meeting of the Council was held on 7th November, 1927, the following being the important business transacted:— Membership of Council. Mr. A. B. Murray was elected a member of Council to fill the casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. R J. Arnold. Regulation of Rubber Exports. Standard Production—Malaya.—The cablegram received from the R.G.A. Local Secretary, Kuala Lumpur, relating to new Rules with regard to Standard Production Assessment in Malaya was submitted and the effect thereof discussed. Colonial Office Announcement. Odobtv (Vide BULLETIN,^. 606.)—- The Colonial Office announcement of 21st October, 1927, was reported and noted. Colonial Office Advisory Rubber Committee.—Arising out of a letter from the Colonial Office, inviting the Association to nominate two representatives to serve on this Committee, for a period of one year from the 1st November, 1927, it was unanimously agreed that Sir Edward Rosling and Mr. H. Eric Miller should continue to act in this capacity. Smuggling in Malaya.—It was reported that cabled advice had been received from the R.G.A. Local Secretary, Kuala Lumpur, that Kedah have appointed a Smuggling Committee on which the unofficial members of the F.M.S. Committee (Vide October BULLETIN, p. 605) will serve. It was also reported that the Straits Settlements Government issued an official announcement in regard to smuggling, on 26th September, 1927. (See also pp. 672, 673.) Export Duty on Rubber—Malaya. Consideration was given to representations made for reduction in export duty, and a small Committee was appointed with authority to take the matter up further. F.M.S. Health Boards Enactment, 1926. (Vide October BULLETIN, p. 603.) A memorandum prepared by a Committee appointed to consider certain questions arising out of the operation of the Enact-ment was submitted, and it was decided to forward the Memorandum to the R.G.A. Local Committee in Malaya for appropriate action.
